Preparation: |
| |
A friendly nurse will ask about your medical history and allergies. She will then help you get ready for your procedure. You will be asked to put on a gown and remove all jewellery, contact lenses, dentures and removable dental work. These and other possessions can be placed in an assigned locker.
Do note that a maximum of two visitors are allowed in the pre-op room at a time. Once you leave for surgery, your visitors will be requested to go to the waiting room where your surgeon may speak with them after your surgery.

Surgery: |
| |
When it is time for your surgery, we will verify your identity with your wrist tag. An IV will then be started and any pre-op medication will be administered.

| |
 |
Recovery: |
| |
After surgery, you will be brought to the post-operative recovery room for at least 30 to 60 minutes where your vital signs can be monitored closely. After which, depending on your surgery, you can either return home, or be transferred to the acute recovery suite so we can continue to monitor your progress.
If you have been given general anaesthesia you will not be permitted to drive. We advise that a dependable relative or friend accompany you. Nurses will only discharge a patient upon a doctor’s instruction.
